Thanksgiving Athleisure Buying Guide for US Boutiques Thanksgiving Athleisure Buying Guide for US Boutiques

Quick Answer

US boutiques can stock matching sweat sets, half-zip tops, and relaxed pants for Thanksgiving travel, casual meals, and time at home. Check fit, fabric, stock, and arrival dates before buying. Plan separate stock for customers who need clothes before Thanksgiving and those who shop Black Friday sales. Choose styles that also work for winter.

A Thanksgiving order needs a clear purpose. One shopper needs a set for a road trip. Another wants a relaxed outfit for a family meal. A third waits for a sale to buy a winter gift. Each has a different deadline and reason to buy.

Build your range around those needs. Then check each style, size, and cost before you commit cash to stock.

What the Data Shows About Thanksgiving Athleisure

Consumer Edge found different results before Thanksgiving and during the main sale period. Its US credit and debit card data showed the following change in spending at Active & Athleisure merchants in 2025. [1]

athleisure-spending-2025-sale-window

Figure 1. Two 2025 shopping windows, each compared with a year earlier. Source: Consumer Edge. [1]

Both figures compare each window with the same period a year earlier. They measure spending at merchants in this category. They do not measure sweat set units or how many people wore athleisure to dinner.

For your buying plan, treat these as two sales windows. Set one arrival date for clothes customers need before the holiday. Set another plan for Black Friday offers and winter gifts.

The wholesale market offers a related signal. FASHIONGO ranked The Lounge first among six trends at its FW26 buying event. The group included relaxed fits, matching sets, and wide-leg shapes. This ranking applies to that event, not all US sales. [2]

Clothing and accessories stayed near the top of holiday gift lists. NRF reported that about half of those surveyed bought these gifts over each Thanksgiving shopping weekend. The figures cover all clothing and accessories, not just athleisure. [3, 4, 5]

How to read it

Nov 1–29, 2023

Active & Athleisure: −1%; Lululemon: +6%. Seasonally adjusted, from a year earlier. [6]

A brand can grow while its wider category falls.

Nov 1–Dec 4, 2024

Lululemon: −14.7%; Nike: −21.2%; Under Armour: −21.8%. Seasonally adjusted, from a year earlier. [7]

These are brand results, not sales of matching sets.

Black Friday–Cyber Monday, 2025

Active & Athleisure: +3% from a year earlier. [1]

The report names Alo, Vuori, Fabletics, On, and Athleta as contributors to growth.

The reports use different dates and merchant groups. Read them as separate snapshots. They do not form one three-year sales growth curve. For your store, test demand by style and reorder from your own results.

What US Google Searches Show Around Thanksgiving

Search interest rose around Thanksgiving in all three years for hoodie, sweat sets, and wide leg sweatpants. For sweat sets, interest in the holiday week was about twice the average of the eight weeks before it. This measures searches, not orders. [8]

us-thanksgiving-search-trends-2023-2025

Figure 2. Original weekly Google Trends indices, aligned to Thanksgiving week. The shaded week includes Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Cyber Monday falls in week +1. [8, 9]

Each percentage below compares the week containing Thanksgiving with the eight full weeks just before it. It is not growth from the year before.

For example, sweat sets had an index of 99 in Thanksgiving week 2025. Its prior eight-week average was 48. The calculation is (99 ÷ 48 − 1) × 100 = 106.3%. It does not mean that unit sales doubled.

The week runs Sunday through Saturday: November 19–25 in 2023, November 24–30 in 2024, and November 23–29 in 2025. Weather, shopping deals, travel, and gifts can all play a role. These curves do not show which cause drove each search.

The chart uses US Web Search and all categories. Each term was exported on its own for January 2023 through December 2025. Its 0–100 scale stays the same across those three years. Compare years within one term; do not compare search counts across terms. Google samples and rounds the data. [8, 9]

The fourth term, lounge set, needs care. It can include furniture searches as well as clothes. Use that curve as broad context only.

For boutiques, the useful step is to have product photos, fit details, and stock ready before the holiday week. Use the rise in interest to plan timing. Use your own sales, returns, and size requests to set order quantities.

What Amazon Walmart and Target Promoted

Dated retail records show repeated holiday offers on sets, sweatshirts, and pants. The table lists selected historical offers. Prices refer to the stated article or sale date and may no longer apply.

Nov 24–30: 40% off sweatshirts, sweatpants, and fleece. [17]

Nov 6–8: 40% off women’s and kids’ sweatshirts and pants, including All in Motion and JoyLab. [18]

These offers cover different goods and dates. They show the prices and products shoppers saw. They do not show average set prices, sales volume, or growth in demand. A $19 set and a $44 set may differ in fabric, fit, size options, and service.

A measured price snapshot across three platforms

DataWeave studied 17,981 apparel listings across Amazon, Target, and Walmart during November 24–27, 2023. Its sample included men’s and women’s athleisure, but the figures below cover the wider apparel sample. [23]

Choose Styles for the Way Your Customers Spend the Holiday

Start with the uses your store serves. Ask whether customers want clothes for travel, a casual meal, or rest at home. Match the fabric and fit to their plans and local weather.

Customer need

Styles to compare

What to check

Road trips and flights

Half-zip sets, joggers, wide-leg pants

Waist comfort when seated, pockets, pant length, room for a light layer

Casual family meals

Mock-neck sets or plain matching sweats

Neckline, top length, color match, and the host's dress code

Time at home

Relaxed hoodies and sweatpants

Inner fabric, waist fit, care steps, and ease of movement

Winter errands

Sweatshirts and pants that also work apart

Fit under a coat, hem shape, and ways to wear each piece

Travel includes long car rides

AAA forecast 81.8 million Thanksgiving travelers in 2025, with about 73 million traveling by car. Its forecast covered domestic trips of at least 50 miles from home. [24]

Show how the set fits when seated. Check whether the waist digs in and whether pockets hold small items. Show pant length with shoes. These details help buyers judge both road-trip and airport outfits.

Show pant length with shoes, then add a seated fit check before approving the style.

Match sets to the dinner dress code

A matching sweat set fits a casual family meal when the host welcomes relaxed dress. Other gatherings call for dressier clothes. Primark's 2025 Thanksgiving guide included tonal lounge sets and hoodies among its comfort options, alongside other dress codes. [22]

For store photos, show a plain set with clean shoes and a simple outer layer. Label the look for casual gatherings. Let customers see how it looks standing and seated.

Use current products to build the range

Sodalemons' current matching set collection includes half-zip and wide-leg styles, fleece hoodie sets, and mock-neck sets. Use those as a starting list, then confirm each style's stock, sizes, and fabric. [25]

Use Celebrity Looks as Styling Examples

Recent celebrity outfits show ways to wear sweats beyond the couch. Use the shape and color choices as display ideas for your own products.

For a similar shape in your store, compare collar size, top length, and pant length. Photograph the full set so shoppers can judge the balance.

Winter and everyday looks in 2026

Harper's BAZAAR reported Jennifer Lawrence's New York look in February 2026. She wore red FreeCity sweatpants with a hoodie and warm outer layers. This gives buyers a useful winter display idea for pants sold on their own. [28]

The 2026 looks provide everyday styling ideas for this year's holiday range.

Check Fabric and Fit Before Ordering

A product name cannot replace a sample. Request the details for the exact style you plan to buy. Record the style code so the quote, sample, and bulk order refer to the same item.

Read the fabric details

Ask for the fiber mix, inner fabric, care label, and fabric weight. GSM means grams per square meter. It describes fabric weight, not the total weight of a finished set.

If you compare fleece and French terry, ask for clear photos of both sides and samples. Check each against the weather and indoor settings your customers expect. Do not judge warmth, stretch, or quality from the name alone.

For example, one Sodalemons fleece hoodie set lists 42% cotton, 53% polyester, and 5% other fibers. The page also describes a drawstring waist and side pockets. Those details apply to that style, not every set in the collection. [30]

Measure the top and pants separately

A customer may need different sizes for the top and pants. Ask whether you can choose a different size for each piece. Confirm the answer before you promise that choice in your store.

Confirm top and bottom size rules

Each size

Inches or centimeters, plus the measuring method

Use the same method for every sample

Base your size mix on store records. Check which sizes sell, which run out, and why customers return items. A single size range or split will not suit every boutique.

Keep a wash and fit record

Measure the sample before washing. Follow the care label, then measure it again once it is dry. Take photos under the same light. Record any change in size, color, seams, or surface.

teal-sweatshirt-fabric-detailKeep close views of cuffs and seams in the sample record. Take new photos after the wash check.

One sample check does not prove long-term wear, but it gives you a basis for questions before a larger order. For more buying checks, read the wholesale match set buyer's guide.

Test a Small Range and Plan Your Reorders

Choose a first order your store can test and fund. Cover the main uses your customers want without spreading the budget across too many new styles.

test-a-small-range-and-plan-reorders

Before paying, confirm the minimum order for each style and service. Ask about mixed sizes, mixed colors, stock holds, and repeat orders. Open pack means you can choose the size mix within the supplier's rules. Confirm which styles allow it.

Review sales by style, color, and size. Track returns and requests for sizes you did not have. A style that sells out of one size needs a different review from a style that sells evenly.

Reorder only after checking both demand and the new arrival date. A reorder that misses a customer's trip will not meet that need, even if the style sold well.

Keep a winter plan for plain sets and separate pieces. Show the pants with other tops and the sweatshirt under a coat. For dated holiday prints, set a last reorder date and a markdown plan. Confirm any holiday print with the supplier before you list it.

Check Margin Before Setting a Black Friday Offer

Adobe reported peak Cyber Monday apparel discounts of 23% in 2023, 23.2% in 2024, and 25% in 2025. These figures cover US online apparel, not just athleisure. [31, 32, 33]

holiday-apparel-discounts-2023-2025

Figure 3. Reported peak apparel discounts on Cyber Monday. The 2025 rate was 2 percentage points above 2023. Sources: Adobe. [31, 32, 33]

Adobe also named activewear and athleisure among its 2025 Cyber Monday hot sellers. It did not give a separate growth rate for those goods. [33]

Plan your sale price before you place the order. A large retailer’s discount is a useful price check, not a rule for your store. Your cost and margin must support the offer.

Compare quotes for the same style, size mix, quantity, and delivery terms. Add branding, packaging, freight, and any import costs your order must cover. The total cost to bring each unit into stock is its landed cost.

Calculate margin from the price the customer will pay after the discount. The example below uses made-up figures. It is not a Sodalemons quote or a suggested retail price.

Example

Regular retail price

$80

Discount

Sale price

$64

Landed cost per set

$32

Gross profit per set

$32

Gross margin

50%

Gross margin (%) = (sale price minus landed cost) divided by sale price, multiplied by 100.

The example leaves $32 before payment fees, order handling, customer shipping, returns, ads, and store costs. It does not show net profit.

If you sell tops and pants apart, check their stock levels before offering a bundle. Keep enough of both pieces to fill the size choices you advertise.

Plan Two Arrival Deadlines

Thanksgiving 2026 falls on November 26. Black Friday follows on November 27. UPS lists no regular pickup or delivery on Thanksgiving Day, with service available the next day. Check the service your order will use. [34]

Stock for customers who need it before Thanksgiving

Start with the date the customer needs the clothes. For travel outfits, use the departure date. Work backward through each step:

  • Delivery from your store to the customer.
  • Time to pack and send the retail order.
  • Time to receive, check, photograph, and list your stock.
  • Freight, customs clearance, and a buffer for delays.
  • Supplier prep, branding, sample approval, and production where needed.

Ask each party for the time its step needs. A dispatch date tells you when a parcel leaves. It does not tell you when your store or customer will receive it.

Stock for Black Friday sales

Set a date for sale stock to be checked and ready to ship. Keep incoming goods and preorders separate from stock you already hold. Show expected ship dates and delivery times for goods that have not arrived.

In DHL's 2026 survey of 1,000 US shoppers, 68% said they leave a purchase when items are unavailable. For 66%, delivery that fails to meet their needs is a reason to leave. These are reported reasons across online shopping, not measured Thanksgiving clothing cart losses. [35]

Keep stock counts current. If a shipment slips, update the product page and affected customers. Confirm a new date before you keep taking orders against the old one.

Compare Wholesale Private Label and Dropshipping

Sodalemons lists wholesale sets, private label options, and dropshipping services. Select the route that fits your cash, brand needs, and schedule. Confirm current terms for the actual order. [25, 36, 37]

What to confirm

Private label

Add your brand to selected goods

Logo or tag options, samples, fees, minimums, and time after approval

Dropshipping

Have the supplier send customer orders

Stock updates, parcel details, delivery estimates, returns, and support

For private label orders, agree on the logo, placement, tags, and packaging before approval. Get the cost and schedule in writing. Branding adds steps that a plain stock order does not need

A close view helps buyers review stitching and decoration edges before sample approval.

For dropshipping, place a sample order to check the item and parcel. Use the delivery service and destination to set customer expectations. Even when you hold no stock, customers need clear product and delivery details.

Thanksgiving Athleisure Buying FAQs

What athleisure should a US boutique stock for Thanksgiving?

Start with matching sweat sets, half-zip tops, and relaxed pants for travel, casual meals, and rest at home. Choose the fabric, sizes, and price range from your own customer needs. Check samples and arrival dates before adding more styles.

Are matching sweat sets suitable for Thanksgiving dinner?

They suit casual meals where the host welcomes relaxed dress. Show clean, simple styling and give clear fit details. A dinner with a formal dress code needs a different outfit. Do not describe one set as suitable for every gathering.

Should a boutique choose fleece or French terry sets?

Compare the actual samples, fiber mix, fabric weight, and inner surface. Match them to your customers' weather and use. Confirm care steps and check the sample after washing. The fabric name alone does not establish warmth or quality.

Can buyers order different sizes for the top and bottom?

Ask the supplier for the rule on each style. Some orders use fixed sets; others allow separate pieces. Also confirm whether you can reorder only one piece. Publish the choices your supplier has agreed to provide.

When should Thanksgiving stock arrive?

Work backward from the customer's wear or travel date. Include supplier prep, freight, receiving, store handling, and final delivery. Set a separate readiness date for Black Friday stock. Confirm dates for your route instead of relying on a general shipping claim.

How can boutiques sell these styles after Thanksgiving?

Choose some plain styles that fit winter travel, home use, and daily errands. Show each piece with other clothes. Use sales, returns, and remaining sizes to guide reorders or markdowns. Keep dated holiday prints on a separate stock plan.

Build Your Order from Confirmed Product Details

Choose the customer use first. Then confirm the style code, sample, size mix, total cost, and arrival date. Keep that record with your order so you can check what arrives.

Explore Wholesale Coordinated Activewear Sets and request current details for the styles on your list.

How We Used AI

We used AI to help find sources, plan the outline, draft the text, and make the language clearer. This includes the Quick Answer, buying advice, FAQs, and tables. AI also helped write code for data comparisons and charts. Its role included research and drafting, as well as language edits. We cite the original sources; AI output is not a source of evidence.

How We Built This Guide

We started with the buying questions this guide addresses. We gathered dated sources and product information, compared the findings, and organized the draft around product choice, sample checks, costs, and delivery. We added charts with source notes and placed product photos beside the relevant advice. We then checked the document layout and prepared it for human review before publication.

This guide compares the completed 2023-2025 Thanksgiving seasons. It separates search interest, sales results, and sale offers because they measure different things.

Product Photos and Charts

The product photos came from files supplied by Sodalemons. AI helped select their positions and write captions and image ALT text. AI did not generate these product photos. The charts use the cited data and the calculation methods described in the article. AI assisted us in creating step-by-step instructional images. We also converted images of actual customers and products into a different format to save server resources and improve page load speeds—specifically, by converting original JPG files into the WebP format.
